About Axelstories
Axelstories is a universe, set in the village of Gruveby, in the mountains by the sea.
The friendship seen in Gruveby shows that cooperation always produces the best results. However, the stories also show the importance of having a courageous heart, using your wits and taking the initiative.
In the narratives, we want to show that the friends achieve results by respecting each other, tolerating differences, and accepting each other’s characteristics. In the process, it is made clear that both girls and boys can do the same tasks, demonstrating equality.
It is the hope and ambition of Axelstories that adults spend time with children, reading.
By means of the songs, we want to encourage adults to reflect on positive things – and important aspects in order for children to feel safe and secure.
The stories are intended to be memorable, exciting and positive – always with a happy ending. They are best for children between the ages of 2 and 5, but the most important lessons in the songs are meant for adults – parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and others who are surrounded by children.
The narratives are usually told by Lukas the collie, who sees himself as the protector of all his friends.

The friends

Axel
Axel is a smart little dumper truck – not the biggest, but not the smallest. His size means that he is flexible and can take on missions that larger trucks could not. He is very eager – sometimes a little too eager. But effort and intelligence can often make up for a lack of strength. His positive approach inspires his friends to solve the biggest of challenges.

Tina
Tina is the kind, thoughtful, brave and clever girl who everyone looks up to. She is very friendly, and almost as sensible as Martin. Tina loves to play football; Chelsea is her favorite team, and she dreams of playing for Chelsea when she grows up. Her favorite song is of course “Blue Is the Colour”. Secretly, she is keen on Martin.

Martin
Martin loves to fish and is brilliant with gadgets. He dreams of being a captain on a big boat. He is smart and kind, and quite unassuming. Martin is a natural team player, and is happy to work hard with his friends. His favorite song is typical enough – “Where No One Stands Alone”. He particularly likes this song because when he sings it (or hums it), he feels more courageous, and the world’s money seems unimportant. Secretly, he is keen on Tina.

Mr. Fix
Mr. Fix loves all sorts of construction machinery, trucks, engines and how everything works. He particularly likes dumper trucks, closely followed by excavators and wheel loaders. He used to work as a Factory Manager at a dumper truck factory. He is incredibly kind – as long as no one has “borrowed” his tools. He is so skilled that if he doesn’t have a tool he needs, he can make something that works. Mr. Fix has a favorite song called “Blueberry Hill”. His friends think it’s because he once had a girlfriend at a place called Blueberry Hill.

Lukas
Lukas is a collie – a sheep dog. He is terrified of water and doesn’t like slippery floors. He is brave, provided that he is confident that he can get away. Lukas loves to go along on his friends’ adventures. Secretly, he is keen on another collie, Xita. Lukas is always eager to hunt for the cat, Catzy – but he misses her when she is not out with the friends.

Catzy
Catzy is a cat who is lazy but smart. She always hides until everything has turned out OK, and then sneaks into the picture when good news is published. Catzy enjoys gently annoying Lukas – she is much smaller than him, but she is cleverer and faster and can worm her way into any little hidey-hole. She misses Lukas when he’s not home. She spends a lot of time with Mr. Fix, because he always gives her treats.
The Stories

Axel & Friends
Axel and his friends live in a small village up in the mountains near the sea. The village is called Gruveby, and from there you can see right out to the sea. The most exciting times in Gruveby are the stormy days, when the wind howls and the sea churns. In this release you can read about how Axel and his friends meet for the first time.

The Dam
As a result of massive rainfall in western Norway, a dam under construction threatens to collapse. Axel and his friends are sent far up into the mountains to help finish the dam as soon as possible. It turns out that it is unwise to work too fast, or to forget to be careful.

Winterland
Up in the mountains, heavy snowfall causes problems at the airport. The snowplows are unable to clear the snow, and the big airport is in danger of being closed. Can Mr. Fix have a good idea, and can Axel and his friends help? Get ready for Axel and friends to take a flight to Winterland.

The Hunt for Gold
Many people dream of finding gold. However, for as long as people have been looking for gold, thieves have tried to steal that gold. Even though stealing is bad – and against the law – some people still try to steal what others have worked hard to find. In this release, our friends go to the gold fields to see if they can find gold.
